Hi again all,
Just giving a somewhat-weekly status update on the documentation.
I was able to get a volunteer to work on layout for the Word-based PDF
manual based on the wiki page. Thanks Seth!
I now have a license for a copy of XMetal so I have a more-than-decent XML
editor to do the DITA-wikislicing prototyping. Thanks to Michael Priestly
and Amber Swope for their efforts to get me a nice tool!
I synced up the Author-it instance with the wiki page on Tuesday and sent
the Word doc and PDF file to SJ. I'll need to go through and re-do all the
Activity screenshots as PNG rather than JPG and try to ensure consistent
sizing on the page. I hope to work on that once I start adding information
about the additional activities that are not yet documented. I had been
emulating the 623 build but I need to work with 642... but... still need
help with emulation (on Windows).
I learned that I need to emulate build 642 to add MaMaMedia activities to
the documentation in both the wiki and the Author-it instance. I haven't yet
been able to emulate build 642. I will also email the devel email list with
my questions about getting this to work. I downloaded the image file from
http://download.laptop.org/xo-1/os/official/648/jffs2/os648.img and tried
running it using this command (which worked previously with the 623 build
image on Windows using QEMU).
qemu.exe -L . -m 256 -kernel-kqemu -soundhw es1370 -net user -net
nic,model=rtl8139 -hda os648.img
The emulation starts, but I get a "FATAL: Not a bootable disk error" nearly
immediately. Any thoughts or ideas, anyone?
A volunteer (Ed Montgomery) had translated an early version of the doc into
French so I gave him some orientation with the doc translation volunteers.
I cleared the cache on my browser (Firefox) and the wiki started to load
slightly better but I still some bad performance mid-week. Now it seems
fine, though.
Still need to order my XO and start working on a laptop sleeve pattern. :)
Enjoy the weekend.
Anne
