Hi. I am interested in finding out more about OLPC and the OLPC Academy. I am professor of mathematics at California State University Northridge and the director of the Peace Corps Master's International program in Education. (CSUN is a large public university in northern Los Angeles. )

I taught at the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) in Rwanda as a Fulbright Scholar (2007) and African Mathematics Millennium Science Initiative Scholar (2008-09), and continue to collaborate with faculty at KIST on distance learning projects. I directed some higher education math and science educational programs for NASA and the NSF which I am trying to run via the internet with KIST students. In addition, my children attended primary school in Rwanda, so I have some familiarity with the Rwandan system of primary school education particularly in Math and Science.

Could we explore the possibility of CSUN Peace Corps Master's International volunteers working on the implementation of the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) program in Rwanda (or elsewhere)? I believe that partnership on this program could be an excellent way to benefit the country's Education goals and be a very good use of CSUN students' training.

Please let me know what you think. Thanks, Carol
