Hi Donna,
Internet connections in the remote areas are difficult.
The phone line is often too bad for dialup, so the only possibility is
through mobile phone. With mobile system, the quality of the
connection depends on how far you are from an antenna. So far, the
antenna of Reliance was very far so we had a bad connection. Now there
is an antenna in the village nearby so the connection is stable. (But
electricity is still a big problem !).
However, I would say it is not important for XO because internet
connection brings more problems than solutions. Children don't need
internet access. If the teacher has internet access, he can add
activities and updates using a USB key, that is enough. If a village
has no access to internet, they can go to the nearest town to download
or communicate, there are places for that.
