Arjun and myself had a joint debug session over IRC (thanks a ton Arjun,
for patiently answering all my questions :-), and we figured out that
somehow, fontconfig was incorrectly returning Deja Vu as the preferred
font for Devanagari (ie, Hindi or Marathi).
fc-match lang:mr.

This was finally fixed by deleting all the fontconfig caches (ie,
~/.fontconfig and /var/cache/fontconfig) and then rerunning fc-cache -f

After that Arjun still cannot get his XO to display Devanagari text -
I'm not sure why, since I can get both Browse and Write to work in the
616 build (using Qemu).

Walter: If possible, could you try deleting your fonts cache manually
and trying again ?
