Hello Everyone,
Save the Children have launched a new School Health and Nutrition
Health Education Manual.
Download the SHN Health Education Manual from www.schoolsandhealth.org
(http://www.schoolsandhealth.org/Documents/Health%20Education%20Manual_Save%20the%20Children2013.pdf)
This manual pulls together 23 topics that they feel are important for
comprehensive School Health and Nutrition programmes. The topics are
broken into six groups:
- Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene
- Infectious Diseases, Including Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs)
- Taking Care of our Bodies
- Preventing Diseases and Injuries
- Nutrition
- Sexual and Reproductive Health, Including HIV and AIDS Prevention
Each topic has a sample 60-minute lesson plan, geared toward children
ages 8-10. The manual has been designed for practitioners to use as
they develop health education programmes. The lessons will be most
effective when adapted them to local contexts, including adding
additional artwork, or dividing lessons into sub-lessons, especially
in schools which have less time during a day to dedicate to health
education.
Cheers,
Franko
