Thanks for the bug report, I added it to sourceforge. 
 
Please can you include any log information.

Then it is a duplicate of a known issue.
 
Also I am using sugar-emulator-0.88 on ubuntu and have tested this on XO-1 and
it works fine. Can you please also tell me what version of python you tested it
on? If you give me your sourceforge id I can add to the project,
