Hi All,

I have added a link to my weekly updates from the overview section.

I started with with making a dictionary DB for my application (listen-spell) which was actually breaking the wordnet dictionary DB to something just useful for listen-spell. The DB was in SQL format which was also required to be converted to SQLite format.

Using the DB and talkntype application as the start base I developed the v1.0 of the application (command line version) with limited features only and committed to git today :). Right now its almost same as talkntype with SQLite support, few added features and few more bugs.

I have shifted my focus towards the pronunciation of the words and the voice quality (which would be I suppose the toughest part of the project). For this i am exploring few pronunciation dictionary and its compatibility with espeak.

Dear mentors : please take a few minutes between now and Saturday to talk with your students to find out how they are doing and help them with the above; and record your own thoughts about the projects and where their roadmap or timeline is heading.
Likewise write back with any insights or issues you have so far, so that we can make our summer program better.

Finally, we are planning a gathering and workshop for the end of August for all summer projects to show off what they have been doing, and to meet in person in Cambridge; more details on this to come next week. We are currently planning to hold this for 2 or 3 days between August 20 and 24 -- for all subscribed to these lists, let me know if you would be interested in attending, and whether this timeframe works for you.
