S, Thanks for the prod. The old figures were partly because the semantic queries on that page don't update until you edit the [[Deployments]] page to cause the tables to refresh (this saves the wiki from grinding to a halt thanks to having Semantic Forms turned on!), and partly because there was stale data for some deployments. The page should now be up to date as of this summer; stil out of date, but le.
In the recent Xconomy Boston interview, NN says
"The precise numbers today are 1.1 million [laptops] out and a back-log
of 400,000-700,000, depending on how you count."

Those numbers aren't reflected in the table of laptops shipped in
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Deployments from which people built maps of
deployments. The numbers look about the same as they were at the
beginning of 2009 and add up to 557,932 laptops.

If someone has better numbers for a deployment, they can go to its page,
click [Edit with form] and update its laptops field.[**] The table will
update after a while or if you purge it.

[**] I understand that when this summary feature first appeared, some
OLPC staff were uncomfortable about sales numbers gaining visibility.
