Hi "somebody" SJ,
What bothers me is that now you're saying there is no standard deal, no transparent process to even do business with OLPC, what do I tell people asking how to do deployments? "Get 100" was freakish enough.

We specifically asked, as per Yama's "pronunciamiento" that you so much liked, for "a simple process for buying 1 or 200".
I will continue to thank whatever support we get from the contributor's program, however that is not an answer for actual deployments, which is my main interest.

But then I guess you're happy selling to corrupt officials that keep your shiny XOs in warehouses until Microsoft is ready to put Windows on them.

Sebastian

2009/2/6 Samuel Klein <sj@laptop.org>

What specifically do you find upsetting? We are phasing out the
current Change program for purchasing small numbers of machines, which
was good for spurring discussion but was not widely used; and we are
expanding support for contributors' projects of all sorts with free
hardware -- for those who need hardware to plan their projects -- via
the [[contributors]] program.

As for 'against the community request' -- community involvement and
guidance is requested more than ever for the contributors program, and
I hope a group of people interested in making new projects successful
takes an interest. I encourage you to bring new ideas up the next
contributors meeting (tomorrow, 2pm, #olpc-groups), or on these lists.
