What do you mean with "renamed copy"?

The .pr file is shareable between platforms, but not forward- 
compatible. That is, a new image can read older project files, but a  
project made in a newer image is not guaranteed to load on an older  
image. So you simply need to run the newer etoys.image on your desktop  
machine:

	http://etoys.laptop.org/src/etoys-image-and-pr.zip

Also, the next Squeakland release image will be compatible with the  
OLPC etoys version (it will differ only in some preferences like font  
sizes etc.).
