If it is clearly a VM issue, there might be a counter-argument.

  I can't speak for the OLPC team though.  If it is seen as if their
resource (disk and CPU of the server) is diverted (which I don't think
it is), there may be another counter-argument.

  Well, even though making a ticket is cheap; I'd say please go ahead.
