Motherboard swap-out

Folks:

I've looked for an answere to this on the wiki, but alas, I've had no luck.

Is it possible to replace a defective motherboard in an otherwise perfectly
happy XO1 with a spare XO1.5 motherboard?  If so, should one remove the side
trackpad ribbon cables from the ALPS trackpad too, or just leave them
alone?  Any other gotchas?
