This might be a case of #11359 (Psmouse kernel panic on shutdown) if your
laptop has an AVC (FSPPS/2) touchpad.

If the screen just is blank and you did not have a serial adapter connected
during shutdown, it may or may not be possible to figure out if it was
something else.
