Confusing build names.

Our build names are structured as:
  
  <branch>-<ordinal>

This structure is designed around the notion that builds occur in
branches, that builds within a branch are totally ordered and that
builds in different branches are not comparable by simple inspection of
the build name.

What are the other methods you referred to?
