How can I prevent 'suspend' ?

No wireless; instead an USB-ethernet adapter. Whenever the XO
suspends, it drops power on the USB. Then, when it resumes, it
connects eth0 to the radio instead of to the ethernet. To avoid
the XO disconnecting, I've done 'touch /etc/ohm/inhibit-suspend'
Was looking at the "local library" with Browse. Clicked on
something that invoked 'Read'. When the 'Read' Activity had started
up, the XO went into suspend (power light blinking, USB power off)
__despite__ the /etc/ohm/inhibit-suspend file still being there.
How do I prevent 'Read' (or whatever) from letting my XO 'suspend' ?

p.s. I believe I've also seen an unwanted 'suspend' when I
temporarily closed the lid (despite the inhibit-suspend file).
