Maintaining visibility into Collabora's work for OLPC

Rob, Daf, & others,

This email is just to let you know that I haven't forgotten about you
and that I'm still working on collecting the actual feedback necessary
to authoritatively respond to your proposed work statement [1].

  [1]: http://teach.laptop.org/~mstone/collabora.txt (temporarily
  published here)

In the mean time, I'm quite happy with Daf working on Gadget and with
Guillaume working on debugging Telepathy/presence-service issues. (Daf
-- we should have a chat with Martin about how to coordinate the testing
and deployment of Gadget support on both the XO and XS platforms.)

Summary of Desires to Date
--------------------------

Here's a summary of the feedback that I've received from several
indiduals about needs they have which Collabora might be able to
satisfy:

Michailis remains most interested in an architecture overview and a
  dataflow for Clique.

Wad prefers to know the dataflow for the school-server XMPP protocol.
A written version of your last conversation with me would be a good
  start.

Scott said that he cares less about documentation and more about
constructing the best collaboration architecture we can.

I don't think anyone is quite sure how best to pursue John Gilmore's
  interoperability suggestions.

I have not queried Polychronis recently enough to have an accurate
  account of his needs.

(I would like to see someone spend a few minutes integrating
Telepathy's automated test suite into Chris' Tinderbox or Titus'
  buildbot.)

Profiles
--------

I suggested to Daf a few days ago that I think it might be appropriate
for Collabora and the Collabora employees working on OLPC's concerns to
maintain profile pages on

  http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Profiles

so that the entire project has greater visibility into Collabora's
relationship with OLPC. To this end, I threw up a stub at

  http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Profiles/collabora

You should examine it to see if it is to your liking.

(Also, I mirrored the Collabora logo on our servers at

  http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Image:Collabora.gif

Feel free to alter this arrangement if you prefer a different one.)

Regards,

Michael
