 Just to underscore the seriousness of this, as if people weren't convinced
 already:

 I just scanned the JFFS2 image that came on my DCON system.  I counted 350
 dirents of the form /etc/mtab* , and that's not counting a large number
 that were filtered out at an earlier stage because the dirent was marked
 as "deleted".

 There are about 200 variants of .serverauth files and .Xauthority in
 /home/olpc, and quite a few in /root.  Lots of lock files and socket
 thingys in /tmp.  Several ".autofsck" and "poweroff" in /.

 Thrash your FLASH, it's fun to do!
