 The serial SPI flash updater program is working.  It needs some packaging
 before it will be ready for general release.  The results so far are
 encouraging:

 Reprogramming the entire 1MiB FLASH takes 3.5 minutes.  That is a Spansion
 part; the SST part is expected to take about 5 minutes because the
 protocol is different.  I don't have a board with an SST FLASH so someone
 else will have to test it for me.

 One recovery mode that I'm supporting is "cloning", where you hook one
 OLPC board to another and copy the FLASH from the working board to the
 bricked one.  Or you can get the new bits from a file.
