I've been running a full kernel on my 1MB ROM and I might be seeing a similar
issue.  Certainly, EHCI is all sorts of hosed up:

ehci_hcd 0000:00:0f.5: Found HC with no IRQ.  Check BIOS/PCI 0000:00:0f.5
setup!

ehci_hcd 0000:00:0f.5: init 0000:00:0f.5 fail, -19

On the other hand, the OHCI found the mass storage device, but the device 
never gets setup - though that might be through a fault of mine.  I'll 
report back when I know more.
