I think we can do that pretty easily - we'll just add a qemu defconfig for
the kernel and use it based on a flag.

Really?  All that basically does is enable MMX and set a 32 byte cache
line. qemu should be able to handle that, should it not?

Just to play devils advocate, going to i386 will be a performance 
tradeoff - we'll lose the MMX memcpy.  Is that deemed acceptable?

Somebody send me a qemu .config for the kernel and I'll add it to buildrom.
