This doesn't explain why FC6 isn't working, but Ubuntu/edgy has gcc
4.1.2, and fails to even build buildrom:
kexec-bzImage.c:(.text.bzImage_probe+0x1c8): undefined reference to
`__stack_chk_fail'
Ubuntu adds -fstack-protector implicitly to the gcc options, which
doesn't work when you're building a kernel.
