I can't reproduce this.  We do have the problem that non esc key presses
advance the timer by a second - so its possible you're killing the timer
and then not booting from NAND or USB.  I'll add a fix for that.

Thats by design - boot menu only shows the pictures and returns return values
corresponding to your choice.  Check the return value from bootmenu - 0 means
timeout, -1 means error, and 1-4 corresponds to the chosen item on the menu.
