Half a year doesn't sound like much time to allow for stablisation also
shipping date isn't the same as the feature freeze date, would we be
able to get Python 2.5 in before such a cut off date?

It seems like a risky move to me, 2.4 has had a long time to settle
down, 2.5 is all fresh and dangerfilled.
