Sorry, this doesn't answer your question, but it seems (to me) related.
It seems to me that when in tablet mode, the D-pad keys should follow
the orientation of the screen. It feels wrong to be reading an ebook,
and have to press sideways to go up/down. Or worse, if I oriented the
screen 180 degrees from normal, I'd be pressing down to go up.
