We have been in email correspondence with help at olpc, and they have been prompt and very helpful.  At the end it seemed that our keyboard might have a hardware problem.  They sent us an RMA number and we shipped the laptop today.  They said that it should take no longer than two weeks (plus shipping time).  We are very happy with this, although we miss the cute little machine!
