A reCAPTCHA plugin has been installed for user registration and anonymous posting. This should eliminate forum spam (mailing list-oriented spam will have to be addressed separately).

The CAPTCHA is funded by the Internet Archive (http://archive.org/) and helps to digitize books for preservation. The user is asked to type 2 english words, the first words is known by the centralized reCAPTCHA service (http://recaptcha.net/), the second word is an non-digitized scan from a public domain book. By getting the first word right, the system is fairly sure the second word, which it doesn't know, is what you said it was. After further attempts confirming those same results across the Internet, it accepts th new word and 1 step closer to putting out of print literature online for free access.
