open usb text file w/o .txt extension

I copied some java soure files to my thumb drive and hit the road assuming that i could open them and edit them with my new xo.

I see the files from the journal, but I am not offred the write activity as an option for opening the files. In fact I am not offered any activity for opening the files. copying them to clipboard does not appear to open them and extrct the text eiher.

Do I have any way to get at my vanilla text files without taking my thumb drive to a real computer and renaming all of them with a different extension?
