Yes, how to upgrade the official builds is documented on the wiki here (http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Stable_Upgrade) and the list of available offical builds is here (http://download.laptop.org/xo-1/os/official/). The development builds, on the other hand, are more often only documented in the Devel mailing lists on lists.laptop.org.
