Comment (by Quozl):

 Thanks for the reply.

 Regarding which firmware version may work:
 * support for NiMH battery module was
 [http://dev.laptop.org/git/users/rsmith/ec-
 cl4-mmp3/commit/?id=aeff6adea26543463ba30ff10038632b5ae76705 removed] late
 2014,
 * the change was released in EC firmware
 [http://wiki.laptop.org/go/EC_4.0_Firmware#Ver:_7_0.5.01 0.5.01],
 * the change was embedded in Open Firmware
 [http://wiki.laptop.org/go/OLPC_Firmware_q7b41 q7b41] for single-core
 builds (such as
 [http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Release_notes/13.2.2#NiMH_battery_module_support_removed
 13.2.2]),
 * the change was embedded in all versions of Open Firmware in the Q7C
 series for dual-core builds (such as
 [http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Release_notes/13.2.3 13.2.3] and
 [http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Release_notes/13.2.5 13.2.5]),
 * so there was no firmware available which is both compatible with dual-
 core builds and with NiMH battery module, sorry, so one is below:

 Remedial firmware instructions:
 * download [http://dev.laptop.org/~quozl/q7c05ec.rom q7c05ec.rom] to a USB
 drive,
 * attach external power and LiFePO4 battery for the duration of
 reflashing,
 * wait for green battery indicator,
 * insert the USB drive,
 * at the ok prompt, type:
 {{{
 ok flash u:\q7c05ec.rom
 }}}
 * after the restart, at the ok prompt, type:
 {{{
 ok flash-ec rom:ecimage.bin
 }}}
 * after the restart, check startup banner to see EC firmware is 0.4.12.
 * attach a tag to the unit to remind you that further firmware upgrades
 will be blocked,

 Regarding making a note; changes have been made to these Wiki pages:
 *
 [http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Release_notes/13.2.2#NiMH_battery_module_support_removed
 13.2.2] for Volunteer Support Impacts,
 * [http://wiki.laptop.org/go/EC_4.0_Firmware#Ver:_7_0.5.01 EC firmware for
 XO-4 laptops] for release 0.5.01.
