 Tested by adding 1GB of swap space, sending a STOP signal to Browse once
 swap was at least 50% used, and examine process memory usage.  Results
 showed 82% of used swap was consumed by the X server process, and 6% by
 the Browse process, so:
  * the memory leak is in the X server process,
  * there is no significant memory leak in the browse process,
  * the root cause must be in the X server,
  * a contributing cause is use of Firefox or Browse; the pattern of X API
 usage will be critical.
