 After following dsd instructions, I found we need the changes in the
 kernel _and_ the card configuration
 (http://dev.laptop.org/attachment/ticket/12487/OLPC_XO-1_75.conf copied in
 /usr/share/alsa/cards/)

 If the configuration is not present, when using a noise with different
 ratio or format [1], the recording continue, but the sound recorded after
 the noise is played, is distorted, like if the parameters in the recording
 were changed. A example is attached as test2, and can be played with:

 aplay --file-type=raw --channels=1 --format=S16_LE --rate=48000 test2

 If we do these changes (kernel and card conf) we don't need modify
 Distance activity
