 Work-arounds:

  * \ is available as ALT-GR 7
  * + is available on ] (5th from right in lower row)
  * * is available as } (shifted 5th from right in lower row)
  * [ is available as + (rightmost key in third row)
  * { is available as * (shifted rightmost key in third row)
  * ] is available as < (3rd from left in lower row)
  * } is available as > (shifted 3rd from left in lower row)

 I can't find a workaround for typing < or > !   In the Spanish membrane
 keyboard they are on a keycode which isn't generated by the Spanish
 mechanical keyboard.

 The best work-around is work from either the Sugar Terminal or the Gnome
 Terminal application.   They correctly map the keyboard!
