 James, are you sure that gpio doesn't need configuration as well ?   I
 didn't think any software currently used it.

 I checked, and the USB hub is power cycled on suspend/resume.   The
 +3.3V_USB rail is clamped to drop quickly.

 What was the wakeup method used in testing ?
