Comment(by Quozl):

 Reproduced on XO-1.5.

 The hang lasts for a variable time, but not forever. It lasted for only 3
 seconds for a "sync" then power-removal test. It lasted 48 seconds for an
 "apt-get update && apt-get install --yes apt-file && apt-file update" then
 power-removal test. It may last longer on media that is slow.

 Once recovery from the journal is complete, the laptop boots as normal,
 and subsequent boots also work fine. Journal size is 64MB according to
 dumpe2fs, so that would be a maximum. If a larger journal is used,
 recovery time will be longer.
