#12661: open firmware may hang if ext3 filesystem journal cannot be recovered

 A microSD card was partitioned with a root filesystem, and a swap
 partition. An operating system was placed on the root filesystem, and the
 system was active with filesystem writes when the power was withdrawn.

 Open Firmware did not properly start on power up. The XO logo was on
 screen. Verbose boot did not make a difference. Inserting a bootable USB
 drive did not change the problem. The serial console showed:

 {{{
 +
 Forthmacs
 Type 'i' to interrupt stand-init sequence
 Recovering from journal ...
 }}}

 Open Firmware was in the middle of reading the startup sound from
 int:\jingle.wav and was required by the filesystem driver to recover from
 journal.

 Workaround: test the brightness keys. If they work, press the sound down
 key many times, then power cycle. On next boot, the zero volume setting
 will cause the startup sound to be skipped. Boot from other media and
 fsck.
