Comment(by wad):

 dhclient appears to use sleep, which fails miserably if the laptop spends
 much time suspended.

 A simple test of:

  date -u && sleep 1800 && date -u

 while also running the WOL test on the same laptop shows that 1 hour and 7
 minutes elapsed before the second date was printed
