 That preimage script sounds messy and a potential pain going forward.

 In the immediate term, I think your need to build kernels from a different
 configuration has gone away. Anyway, I have enabled mock builds with:
  ./olpc/buildrpm -m <mock cfg name> 1.75

 so you can easily set up a mock config with any specific build
 requirements that you need.

 I also think this problem will help solve itself in future as ARM machines
 get better/more widely available.
