 When booting an XO-4 A2 laptop, running OS17 and OFW Q7A11, I saw some
 ugliness in pretty boot.  OFW froze the screen, and transferred to Linux
 fine.  The kernel did it's little dancing dot boot animation fine.   Then
 it cleared the screen to white.

 At this point, two lines of console text were drawn on the screen (in the
 middle).

 Once X started up, it erased the screen with its stipple pattern and boot
 proceeded normally.
