Comment(by dsd):

 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=837964 has the gcc upstream
 patch (scheduled for 4.8) backported to gcc-4.7.

 It seems unlikely that fedora will ship this patch in gcc-4.7. If that's
 the case, I'll be happy to maintain a forked pixman RPM until the new gcc
 enters Fedora - the important work of getting the support upstream is
 done.

 However, there are various reports of immxt instabilities around, such as
 http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/linux-arm/2010-June/000211.html

 Before going further I would like to confirm that this doesn't affect us.
 However, compiling glibc (or pretty much anything, by the looks of things)
 with -march=iwmmxt2 causes a gcc crash. This is
 http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=40836

 Also, pixman fails to build on f18 due to a dependency error when iwmmxt2
 support is active. Might be a parallel make issue. Need to investigate and
 file a pixman bug.
