 when moving two fingers around the screen, the touchscreen can easily get
 confused as to which is which, and produce phantom touches which consist
 of one coordinate (x or y) from each actual touch.

 the attached test program can be used to demonstrate the problem.  the
 attached video shows the problem, albeit produced with a different version
 of the test program.
