Comment:

 I've looked through the 20-ish paint logs and the shell logs in the
 attachment, can't find any evidence of an activity launch failure. Will
 leave this ticket open to see if we find any further cases.

 If you see this again it would be good to correspond the failure to a log
 file. You can look at the contents of /home/olpc/.sugar/default/logs
 before and after every launch of Paint. This way you should be able to
 identify which log file corresponds to the launch failure, or report that
 no log file was created at all in the failure case.
