Comment:

 I don't think association is lost, just the light blinks. Same on 11.3.x
 (and earlier) but it did used to stay solid in earlier times.

 So the light blink is a regression from earlier releases, but not one that
 I've ever dedicated the time to really understanding. I did have a quick
 look once, but the USB resume code has changed quite a bit when we have
 moved kernels. Hard to compare the flow.

 Can you try to confirm that association is not lost, the only problem is
 the light blink?
