Comment:

 These examples and linked URLs seem to work on a XO-1.75 with 512 MB of
 RAM, but do not work on a XO-1 with 256 MB of RAM where this ticket was
 likely reported.

 For example, the second page of the Saffran PDF file will not render on a
 XO-1.  If you restore a Read session with the second page visible it tends
 to segfault in libpoppler-glib.

 Many of the pages that fail to render images seem to be full-page scans of
 published works as opposed to storing the actual text in the PDF file.
