Comment(by greenfeld):

 The driver in the test kernel works but is extremely sensitive by default.

 It is hard to move one's finger halfway across the touchpad without moving
 the mouse cursor the entire width of the screen.

 This extreme sensitivity was not a problem when using the generic PS/2
 driver.

 Tap to click seems to be turned off in the ELAN driver by default; or a
 Synaptics check is clearing it (one of the dmesg entries mentions detected
 Synaptics flags).
