 Richard is focussed on preparations for the upcoming bringup, where the
 board will have a new EC chip amongst various challenges. On the Linux
 driver side, Andres is also busy with prep for bringup.

 According to Richard this both "should never happen" (in his review of the
 EC code) and has been happening for a while with no negative impact. He
 was comfortable with a workaround and a review looking for races in the
 linux driver side, as he's confident on the EC side.
