 The first symptom is that DPI is incorrect, fonts in the UI are tiny.

 In early boot, the unit identifies itself as "OLPC DA", and /sys/device-
 tree/baner-name says "DA". olpc-utils expects XO-1.5 variants to match
 "D[0-9]".

 Several things are misconfigured as a result.
