 The two affected XO-1.5 were reset and allowed to repeat five-minute runin
 loops overnight ... in the morning both were found powered off, with the
 EC still in discharge mode.  Presumably the units had hung with #11982 and
 then discharged to the point of power down.

 In Open Firmware the EC was probed, and the battery status showed
 discharging despite external power present.  "3c ec-cmd" was used to
 resume charging.  The logs were examined.  The run.log and kern.log were
 truncated, as before.

 Previous logs were examined.  The creation times showed the elapsed time
 since the test was begun; four hours on one unit, half an hour on another.
 There were also about four other truncated logs suggesting that there may
 be a spontaneous reboot symptom as well.
