Comment:

 the symptom was detected in a local kernel build, which certainly had
 CONFIG_VIDEO_MMP_CAMERA=m, so i agree with pgf.  i've not yet tested the
 fix, but it is straightforward.  as the problem is rare it may take us a
 while to verify it.  so i'll close now.
