 it's testable with a magnet that makes the system think it's in ebook mode
 -- hold it to the top right corner of the bezel, just about at the camera
 LED.  if you're using a real OLPC lid magnet (recommended), hold it in the
 horizontal orientation -- polarity matters. (the magnet should really be
 held to the rear of the screen, but in practice i don't find that it
 matters much.)

 you can also test without a second magnet.  if you fold to ebook mode, and
 hold the camera corner so it can't be separated too much, you may be able
 to slide your finger in on the far edge of the touchpad and show that it
 doesn't do anything until the gap  is sufficiently large.

 if you make a strong case of an extra kbdshim message, i can do it, but it
 will have to be rate-limited, etc.
