 I don't think having a timeout polling for the value is good because
 consume resources.

 I am not talking about using gconf as interprocess communication, but as a
 common config place.

 Also, this does not work with activities if they change alsa volume, what
 activity is doing it?

 Finally, we are trying of move from alsa to pulseaudio....
